Within California we are so big and have so many riders we are actually divided in half! SoCal covers every school and every team from Santa Barbara to the Mexican border. We will probably be subdivided in the next couple years!!!
For lots more great info please go to the SoCal League page for info:
The following description is meant to be a bit of a guide for the mom or dad looking to buy a bike for their son or daughter. Please use this as a starting guideline.
For more help please drop into our sponsoring team shop “JAX Bikes, Murrieta.” As a team rider you will receive a discount on all purchases (not just bikes) from JAX. WoooHooo!
Kristen Kerr (team parent) has a wonderful amount of info and often good leads for anyone looking to purchase a bike. As a team member you can reach out to Kristen on our Team Snap page.
Nope. We accept girls and boys from 6-12 grade. You will be placed into a group based on your age, ability and your goals. We have riders from 3 middle schools as well as Chaparral High School. Even the races are divided with Saturday being dedicated to Middle Schoolers and Sundays for High Schoolers.
YES!!! We absolutely welcome and encourage all girls and boys to join!
Have you checked out our “Coaches” section in the Main Menu?
Please reach out to Coach Ira Hindrawinata indomania77@yahoo.com Ira will help you through the process with any questions you may have.
You have two options:
- You can fill out a one day waiver and come “Try It Out” to see if you want to ride/coach with us.
- You can complete all the registration steps and become a Team rider or Coach
Unfortunately, there is no casual riding with the team. We are a team like any other. You wouldn’t walk onto the football field during team practice and just start playing catch would you? Please respect the time and effort the Coaches have put into preparing for each practice. As a casual rider you are not licensed, not insured and have no registered background info. We take managing the team and the safety of everyone very seriously, without either we are ALL liable.
“You guys don’t own the trails, I’ll ride wherever I want!” Yes, you are correct. We cannot make you ride elsewhere. We will respectfully ask you to choose your own ride and we will stress the respect element. As Coaches our utmost responsibility is the safety and best environment for the riders. Fortunately most understand this principle and once explained either choose option 1, 2 or find another trail.
ZERO! The Coaches and Team Management do this all voluntarily. We commit hundreds of hours annually to producing this team and do it for the satisfaction of sharing our passion for riding with the next generation.
We all have other commitments, but make the time to help these kids improve and succeed at riding and life!
All Team Dues and Sponsor money goes directly back into the team for the benefit of the riders and families.
This team and ALL the NICA teams rely heavily on the help from parents and family. This is not a “sign ’em up and drop ’em off” kind of club. As a parent you are a member of this team and will be asked to help out. You may only be able to do a small task, but every little bit helps. The most successful teams function like a big family with buy-in from the parents and the riders. This team can become as amazing as we want, but only with help from parents!
Unfortunately we do not. It’s tough enough to get a governing body to regulate cross country events for youth…imagine trying to get quality insurance and standardized classes for coaching and regulating a zillion kids across the U.S. hucking it off hip jumps, gaps and rock drops!
We are cross country based. What does that mean exactly?? Well, we go uphills AND downhills, we work on a skill based approach with emphasis on safety and fitness. The fitter you are, combined with skills, the better and safer you can ride….both up the hills AND down the hills.
The races are competitive amongst the riders and very well supported and encouraged by all the coaches, parents and friends.
Come give us a try!
We sure do! See the flyer below for ideas!

No. Racing is optional, however it is encouraged and the courses are very fun. There will not be anything technical on the race courses. Any team member who regularly participates in practice will be prepared for any of the race courses. We spend a lot of time during practice covering one of the actual courses (Vail Lake) where 3/5 races take place.
